Thank you for sharing. My mom just turned 83, recently (she’s one day older than my dad). I have learned compassion + empathy from her - I’m grateful 🤍

The first time I spoke to my mother on the phone was 13 years ago. We talked for two hours, and in that two hours, the topic was ink and ink-making.

I’m an Adopted Person so I don’t know what it’s like to be raised by someone with whom one shares a genetic connection but we do have this ink thing in common, my first mother and I. She’s a calligrapher. I’m just generally interested in pens and inks and the writerly arts.

Anyway, yeah, I’m desperately trying to purchase your ink (it’s in my shopping cart! But I can’t check out! Help!) for her. We’ve been in Reunion for 13 years but have only met once. But I’m still trying to connect. I’ve tried bagels (I’m a New Yorker), flowers, sweets, more flowers, art books, and of course many painstakingly worded cards and emails. I keep hope alive but damn wouldn’t it go down easier with some handmade inks? Holler atcha girl: purerobin @ mac . com

I’m just finding my (our) way back to a loving, sweet, uncomplicated way of being with my mother after years of resentment and angst for her not giving me space to be me. I’m not sure what was the tipping point, but it’s quite lovely :) thank you for this.
