And your use of laundry bluing squares reminds me - I live near Alert Bay, and when I first went to the U’mista Cultural Centre I was struck by the bright blue in several Kwakwaka’wakw potlatch masks, which was derived from Reckitt’s Bluing Whitener, which I had not heard of before seeing it used as pigments for those incredible transformative masks.
