Someone once said of me that I was always already gone and I think I ever told my soul it wasn't really on the run, I'd shrivel up and die.

I love Pony Boy because he's a reader and a writer and I told myself that's what he did with the rest of his life - he became a novelist. What kind? I'd be disappointed if he went genre but he wouldn't be Hunter S. Thompson for sure. Hmmm. Maybe he wrote something like James Fogle's Drugstore Cowboy? Matt Dillon's Dallas Winston and his Bob (Drugstore Cowboy) were eerily the same in a way. I think I wanted to be Bob for most of my life, eternally young and breaking into pharmacies as if they were candy stores.

But what I really meant to mention was pink and how I love it but I'm always reminded of the silkworms we kept in punctured shoe boxes. The worms terrified me but the magic of the silk was like a miracle, particularly the mulberry-induced pale pink. And the cocoon itself was this little world of wonder. But then, a moth, and my intense mottephobia.

Maybe that's life in a nutshell, a pretty pink cocoon and then also your worst nightmares.

Sorry for the ramble! As always, I loved the post and I could picture that house so well and my brain says thank you for reminding my soul that it IS on the run and will not be told otherwise.
