Mini newsletter + workshop
This weekend's online class at the New York Botanical Gardens still open
This is kind of a mini newsletter. Hoping that you are in some midsummer night’s dream. But I do want to you to be the first to know even though its really last minute about an online workshop that I am leading with the New York Botanical Garden. Tomorrow! 8/3/24, 11 am – 1 pm. Its a 2 week workshop where you will learn about foraging and inkmaking and the sorts of things you might find in your neighbourhood to experiment with, and I will demonstrate some of the possibilites from my kitchen lab and then in between you will go out and have some adventures. The second week we will look at all the finds and talk through how to make them into useable, beautiful art supplies. How to modify colours and bottle them up and keep them alive. I have taught this course before and usually there are people from around the world with lots to learn and teach and think through all together. I am sorry I am writing this so late. I have no good excuse. But still I think you or maybe someone you know will like it. Enrolment is limited but there are still a few spots left.
Jason, I am THRILLED to have been able to sign up for your New York Botanical Garden online course in the past hour. Do you know if the Garden has a mechanism to turn my individual registration into a group registration so 4-6 botanical ink enthusiasts could come to the lab I lead (the OneTree STEAM Studio in Fairbanks, AK) to do the mini-workshop? I think people would be happy to contribute to a group registration. We would watch the class on our big screen, do a collaborative project during the week, and complete the mini-workshop, again as a group ,on August 10. I have enough supplies for up to 8 people. Is there a way to accomplish this that's 'kosher'? My intention isn't to 'rook' NYBG or you--we'd gladly pay! Oh--one other question. Will there be recordings made of the two 2-hour sessions? Two of the people I'd love to invite are traveling right now, but they could catch up by watching the first week's recording when they get home to Fairbanks. Thanks!! I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE MINI-WORKSHOP TOMORROW! It's a dream come true to have this opportunity.
